Welcome to professional wildlife and travel photographer Sue Flood’s website. Many thanks for your interest in my work.

I spent 11 years as a wildlife filmmaker with the world-renowned BBC Natural History Unit, which gave me the incredible opportunity to work with Sir David Attenborough on 'Planet Earth' and 'The Blue Planet’ , along with other blue-chip series. After producing several documentaries, I decided that I was enjoying photography more than being a producer/director and made the momentous decision to leave the BBC, leaving on a high after 'Planet Earth'. I was fortunate to be taken on by Getty Images, and was then approached to guide for a high-net-worth client on an extraordinary trip to the Antarctic. Word of mouth then led to more assignments of a similar nature, working from the North Pole to the tropics and I knew I’d found my niche.

I am freelance and usually spend around 6 months of the year on location, whether guiding wildlife photography trips for private clients, Steppes Travel or Quark Expeditions.

I was thrilled to lead a trip to the Antarctic, South Georgia and the Falklands for Steppes Travel with TV presenter Monty Halls in January 2017, and will be guiding another trip to the Arctic with Monty in 2018.

In 2018 and 2019 I have some other wonderful adventures coming up, which include visiting the Nenet reindeer herders in Siberia, Spitsbergen Photography - In search of Polar Bears for Quark Expeditions, photographing polar bears in Svalbard for Steppes travel, Spirit bears in British Columbia, trips to Japan, the Galapagos, Madagascar and Emperor penguins in the Weddell Sea, so if you’re interested in hearing more, please email info@sueflood.com.

In 2019 I will be leading some other exciting trips for Steppes including a trip to Bhutan, a photography trip to the North Pole and Russian Arctic by the world’s most powerful icebreaker, a small luxury safari to Namibia and Botswana, and a luxury yacht trip for around 30 guests to Papua New Guinea in November 2019. Again, please email info@sueflood.com if you’d like more details.

If you’re interested in purchasing a signed copy copy of my polar photography book Cold Places as a present, I can personalise it for you.

I’ve also been working on a very exciting private commission, photographing a beautiful estate in Oxfordshire. This is under wraps for now but as soon as I’m able to reveal all, I will post news! I was very pleased to be given a special award in the recent International Garden Photographer of the Year contest for one of my images.

Many thanks for visiting my website.
